Oh. I forgot. He's got capital.
When Trent Lott says that the Republican Secretary of Defense should resign, and I agree with him, well, maybe it's time for us all to take a couple of weeks in the Bahamas to get our heads together.
"Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance." Amen, Terry.
Still, it makes me want to say, "Oh no you don't, Mister Lott." It will drive me nuts if this gives him a by for being one of the leaders of a party that has utterly failed to demand accountability in the last four years.
Waking up to the political trend and jumping ahead of the curve by a milisecond on this one person does not make up for the absolute abdication of responsibility for accountability we've seen. I know you aren't arguing otherwise. Your post just gave me a chance to say it.
